|
Music Playtime - original, lively, action packed, music sessions for kids aged 12 months - 4 years. Developing a strong rhythmic base with focused vocal training and basic percussion skills. Music Playtime encourages parents to become actively involved with their child's development and to discover alongside them. Music Playtime works because it is fun and full of ideas. It provides a stimulating environment for everybody to learn in and is grounded in well-established teaching traditions. Music Playtime is unique because it is taught by someone who has both worked as a professional performing musician and who has wide ranging classroom experience. Music Playtime therefore brings a strong performing element to the learning process. About Sarah Prior to setting up Music Playtime, Sarah Marks worked for 8 years as a professional viola player. She spent 2 years in Reykjavik with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra then returned to England where she freelanced with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Sadlers Wells Royal Ballet, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Halle and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra before joining the Royal Liverpool Symphony Orchestra. She has performed as part of a string quartet all her life and has also worked regularly as fiddle player/guitarist in a celidh band. She is a trained Suzuki violin teacher and has also studied Kodaly (singing) and Dalcroze (music and movement). Sarah has three children aged 15, 13 and 6 years. She lives in Southport, Merseyside, where she runs the Southport String Group: a group of three string orchestras which have a good reputation locally and travel abroad regularly. Sarah is part of the folk trio Gallimaufry, who play regularly around the North West and are also in demand for their lively and innovative school workshops. |
